Spell was started by sisters Isabella and Elizabeth, who set up at Byron Bay's artisan markets in 2009. The label's HQ and store are still in Byron Bay.
Spell is known for its signature prints, which the Byron Bay team draws by hand, and pieces are rarely recut. The brand is a certified B Corp, and its business operations are certified carbon neutral by Climate Active, though that certification does not yet cover the clothes themselves.
