Bondi Born was started at Bondi Beach by founder Dale McCarthy, who wanted to share the feeling of being there. Natalia Grzybowski is the label's creative director.
The swimwear took three years to develop and uses three Italian stretch fabrics, with eight to ten prototypes made for each style. The ready-to-wear is cut only from natural fibres: silk, Japanese cotton and European linen certified by the Masters of Linen. Bondi Born has been a certified B Corp since 2020 and certified carbon neutral since 2021, and most of its makers in Australia and overseas are owned and run by women.
