Shona Joy Thatcher started out selling hand-painted designs at Bondi Beach and Paddington markets, and launched her label in 2000. It is still based in Sydney.
The label is built on neutral colours and natural fabrics, with what it calls a "70s bohemian glamour". Expect long, easy dresses, linen sets and tailoring that work just as well barefoot as in heels. Collections are made to be worn for years rather than chase the season, and the brand is moving its fabrics towards certified, less resource-intensive options.
