Scanlan Theodore was founded in 1987 and is still independent. Founder Gary Theodore has led the design with creative director Maria Sita for more than 25 years, and every collection is developed in-house at the label's Melbourne studio.
The look is minimal and classic, built on traditional European dressmaking techniques, with close attention to fabric, proportion and finishing. Pieces are made with a network of artisan partners. The label also has long ties to the arts, including partnerships with the NotFair art fair, the Hellenic Museum and Bill Henson's ONEIROI exhibition.
